벤자민인성영재학교 졸업·입학식... 꿈을 찾는 1년(a Dream Year)

꿈을 찾는 1년(a Dream Year)’을 모토로, 국내최조 갭이어형 대안고등학교로 설립된 벤자민인성영재학교(이하 벤자민학교, 교장 김나옥)는 2월 28일(수) “2023학년도 졸업식 및 2024학년도 입학식”을 유튜브 생중계로 개최했다.

Benjamin School for Gifted and Talented Children (hereinafter referred to as Benjamin School), which was established as the best gap year alternative high school in Korea with the motto "a Dream Year," held the "2023 Graduation Ceremony and 2024 Entrance Ceremony" on February 28 (Wednesday) via live streaming on YouTube.

이 자리에는 입학생, 졸업생, 학부모, 멘토, 공병영 글로벌사이버대학교 총장, 권택환 대구교원단체총연합회장 그 외 교육관계자 등 150여 명이 참석했다.

The event was attended by more than 150 students, graduates, parents, mentors, Global Cyber University President Gong Byung-young, Daegu Teachers' Union President Kwon Taek-hwan, and other education officials.

행사는 지난 1년간 심신단련으로 호연지기를 키운 학생들의 기공 공연과 검무 축하공연을 시작으로 •교장 인사말 •명예이사장 및 설립자 격려영상, •권택환교수 축사 •일본 벤자민학교 교장 및 국제멘토 축하영상 •졸업장 수여 •졸업생 대표의 감사메시지 낭독 •11기 입학선서 •졸업입학 포부발표 •멘토 축하 메시지 •선배 축하메시지 •지구시민 선언문 낭독, 이후 전국 지역학습관별 행사로 진행되었다.

The ceremony began with a qigong performance and sword dance celebration by the students who have been training their minds and bodies for the past year, followed by greetings from the principal, an encouraging video from the honorary chairman and founder, a congratulatory video from Professor Kwon Taek-hwan, a congratulatory video from the principal of Benjamin School in Japan and international mentors, the presentation of diplomas, a thank-you message from the graduating class representative, the 11th class oath of admission, the announcement of graduation aspirations, congratulatory messages from mentors, congratulatory messages from seniors, and the reading of the global citizenship declaration.

김나옥 교장은 벤자민학교는 변화의 속도를 가늠할 수 없는 인공지능 시대에 인성을 중심에 두고, 어떤 변화에도 잘 대응할 수 있는 자신감과 능력을 기르는, 살아 있는 교육을 하고 있다고 하면서 올해는 뉴질랜드와 일본 등 국제적인 교류가 어느 때보다 더 활발해질 것이라고 하였다. 또한 홍익인성교육을 실천하는 벤자민학교가 하나의 대안학교에 머무르는 것이 아니라, ‘인성을 갖춘 미래인재 역량교육’에 가장 성공적인 모델을 우리 사회에 제시하고 있으니 우리 학생들의 잠재력과 꿈을 꽃피우는 교육, 우리 사회 교육에 진정한 희망이 되는 교육 함께 하자고 전했다.

Principal Kim Na-ok said that Benjamin School is a living education that centers on humanity in the era of artificial intelligence, where the speed of change cannot be measured, and cultivates confidence and ability to respond well to any change, and this year, international exchanges such as New Zealand and Japan will be more active than ever. He also said that Benjamin School, which practices Hongik character education, is not just an alternative school, but is presenting the most successful model for 'educating future human resources with character' to our society, so let's work together for an education that blossoms the potential and dreams of our students, an education that is a true hope for education in our society.

설립자인 일지 이승헌 이사장은 세상에 없는 특별한 학교 벤자민학교는 학생들 스스로 프로젝트를 계획해서 도전하며 성취감을 느끼고 당당한 자신감을 갖는 학교, 교실 안에서 책으로 공부하는 학교가 아니라 필요한 곳은 어디든지 찾아가고 많은 멘토들을 만나면서 자신의 꿈을 찾는 학교이니 여러분 스스로 주인공이 되어서, 세상을 교실 삼아 1년을 마음껏 창조하기 바란다고 하였다. 자신의 가치, 뇌의 가치를 세상에 널리 전하고 미래인재로 더 큰 꿈을 펼쳐나가기 바란다고 하면서 입학과 졸업을 축하했다.

벤자민학교 명예 이사장인 이수성 전 총리는 벤자민학교는 대한민국의 건국이념이자 교육이념이기도 한‘홍익 인간’정신을 실현하고자 설립한 학교라고 하였다. 전쟁과 기후 위기 같은 인류가 직면한 위기 앞에 홍익 정신이야말로 전 세계가 필요로 하는 정신이고, 지금이야말로 홍익 정신을 가진 인재가 절실하게 필요한 때이니 미래세대 주인공인 여러분이 홍익 정신으로 바른 정신을 갖는다면 어떠한 미래가 오든 두렵지 않을 것”이라며 “선택한 1년이란 시간 속에 여러분 인생뿐 아니라 대한민국과 지구를 희망으로 변화시킬 것”이라고 기대를 전했다.

권택환 대구교원단체총연합회장은 자신을 벤자민학교 멘토라고 소개하면서 교육을 한 글자로 표현하면 바로 ‘꿈’이라고 하였다. 특히 고등학교 때 어떤 꿈을 꾸어야 하는가? 공생과 홍익의 꿈, 인성이 있는 꿈을 꾸어야 하는데 그 꿈을 주는 학교가 바로 벤자민학교라고 하면서 전 세계에서 가장 훌륭한 학교로 거듭나길 기원한다고 했다.

Mr. Kwon Taek-hwan, President of the General Federation of Daegu Teachers' Organizations, introduced himself as a Benjamin School mentor and said that education can be expressed in one word: 'dream'. He said that Benjamin School is the school that gives us that dream, and he wished it to become the best school in the world.

일본 시나가와 레이코 벤자민학교 교장, 쥴리 먀오 중국 뇌교육 대표, 국제 뇌교육협회 이자벨 이사장, 무하메드 중동 뇌교육 대표 등 국제 멘토들이 입학과 졸업에 대한 축하와 응원의 메시지를 담은 영상을 보내주었다.

International mentors, including Principal Reiko Shinagawa of Benjamin School in Japan, Julie Miao, President of Brain Education in China, Isabel, President of the International Brain Education Association, and Muhammed, President of Brain Education in the Middle East, sent videos of their congratulations and support for the program.

벤자민학교의 전통에 따라 물구나무서서 걸어 나온 졸업생 대표 유재신, 김채영 학생에게 김나옥 교장은 졸업장을 수여했다. 그리고 졸업생들은‘나는 할 수 있다’고 크게 외쳐 자신감과 용기를 키우는 퍼포먼스인‘자기선언’으로 벤자민학교만의 개성 넘치는 힘을 보여 주었다.

Principal Kim presented diplomas to valedictorian Yoo Jae-shin and Kim Chae-young, who walked out of the handstand according to Benjamin School tradition. The graduates then demonstrated their unique strength by performing "Self-Declaration," a performance that builds confidence and courage by shouting out "I can do it.

안태희, 황선호, 조이현 졸업생은 1년간 성장에 큰 도움을 주신 부모님, 선생님, 멘토께 가슴 깊이 우러나온 감사의 마음을 전하면서 큰 절을 올렸다.

Graduates Taehee Ahn, Sunho Hwang, and Johyun Kim took a deep bow as they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their parents, teachers, and mentors who have helped them grow over the past year.

신입생 11기 입학생을 대표해 최예성, 이유나 학생이 선서했다. 이후 졸업․입학 포부발표에서 김서영 졸업생은 학업 스트레스로 자퇴한 이후 막막한 미래에 대한 불안, 무기력으로 희망이 보이지 않았지만 벤자민학교에서의 다양한 프로젝트로 내안의 무한한 힘을 찾았다고 하였고 김하랑 입학생은 벤자민학교에서 내가 어떤 가치관을 가지고 어떤 목표를 향해 가야 하는지 찾고 나뿐만 아니라 환경까지 생각하는 인성영재로 멋지게 성장하겠다고 당찬 포부를 말했다.

Students Yeesung Choi and Yuna Lee took the oath on behalf of the 11th freshman class. In the graduation and enrollment aspirations presentation, Ms. Kim Seo-young said that after dropping out of school due to academic stress, she was anxious about the vague future and hopeless due to lethargy, but through various projects at Benjamin School, she found infinite strength within herself, and Ms. Kim Harang said that she would find out what values I should have and what goals I should go for at Benjamin School and grow into a personality gifted person who thinks not only about myself but also about the environment.

김현아 멘토는 축하메세지에서 자신의 자녀가 8기 졸업생이라고 밝히면서 벤자민학교의 이야기를 담은 책“대한민국의 이런 학교가 있었어?”를 인용하였다. 글로벌 학교로 확장되고 있는 지금은‘지구상의 이런 학교가 있었어?’라고 바뀌어야 할 만큼 새로운 역사를 쓰고 있는 벤자민학교를 항상 응원한다고 했다.

In her congratulatory message, Mentor Kim revealed that her child is an 8th grade graduate and quoted the book "Was There Ever a School Like This in Korea?" which tells the story of Benjamin School. She said she always supports Benjamin School, which is expanding into a global school and is writing a new history that should be changed to "Was there ever a school like this on earth?

총동창회 대표인 2기 졸업생 오소민과 전우주, 3기 졸업생 장윤정은 선배축하메세지에서 벤자민학교에서 경험할 수 있는 모든 것을 해보라고 조언하였다. 그 경험들이 나에게 꿈과 희망이 되었고 더 큰 나로 도약하는 인생의 터닝포인터가 되었으니 이 시기가 인생의 중요한 시간인 만큼 선배들이 항상 함께하겠다고 하여 큰 호응을 얻었다.

In their congratulatory messages to the seniors, Oh So-min, a second-year alumnus, and Jang Yoon-jung, a third-year alumnus, advised them to take advantage of all the experiences they had at Benjamin School. They said that the experiences gave me dreams and hopes and became a turning point in my life to leap to a bigger me, so I received a great response that the seniors will always be with me as this is an important time in my life.

졸업생과 신입생, 참석자들 모두 인성영재로서의 자질을 갖추고 지구경영자로 성장하겠다는‘지구시민 선언문’을 크게 낭독하면서 새로운 출발의 마음을 다졌고 마지막으로 학생들과 학부모 모두같이 댄스를 추면서 축하의 한 마당을 이루며 행사의 대미를 장식하였다.

The graduates, new students, and attendees all read out loud the "Global Citizen's Declaration" that they would grow into global managers with the qualities of character giftedness, and the event culminated with a dance to celebrate with the students and parents.
