한국불교태고종 총무원장 상진스님은 최근 의료대란 발생과 관련 2월 21일 긴급 호소문을 내고 의료현장 복귀를 간곡히 당부했다.
On February 21, the head of the Korean Buddhist Taego Jong General Secretary, Sangjin Sang, issued an urgent appeal for medical staff to return to the medical field following the recent outbreak of medical disturbances.
총무원장 상진 스님은 호소문에서 “현재 우리는 그 어느 때보다 국내외로 위험한 상황을 마주하고 있다”고 전제하고 “우크라이나 전쟁과 이스라엘-하마스 전쟁, 북한의 끊임없는 도발은 국민 불안감을 높이고 있다”고 지적했다.
"We are currently facing more dangerous situations at home and abroad than ever before," he said in the appeal, pointing out that "the war in Ukraine, the Israeli-Hamas war, and North Korea's constant provocations are increasing public anxiety."
이어 총무원장 상진 스님은 “이런 때일수록 국민화합과 단결이 더욱 더 절실히 요구된다”면서 “국민의 건강과 생명을 다루는 숭고한 소명의식을 되새기며 부처님의 자비심과 불교의 화쟁사상으로 임하다 보면 현명한 해결책을 찾을 수 있을 것”이라고 강조했다.
"In times like these, national reconciliation and unity are needed even more urgently," said Sangjin Sang, the head of the General Council. "We can find wise solutions if we recall the noble calling of dealing with the health and lives of the people, and if we do so with the compassion of the Buddha and the Buddhist idea of peacemaking."
정부에 대해서도 의사와 예비의사들이 요구하는 문제해결을 위해 더 적극적인 자세로 임해달라고 당부한 총무원장 상진 스님은 “의료대란으로 인한 국민의 불행과 희생이 조속히 해결될 수 있도록 의료진의 현장복귀를 간곡히 호소한다”고 말했다.
"We appeal to the government to take a more proactive stance in addressing the needs of doctors and reserve doctors," said Sangjin, the head of the General Council, "so that the misery and sacrifices of the people caused by the medical crisis can be resolved as soon as possible.
