국제무예 올림피아드( 총재 오노균, 이하 IMAO)는 19일 전 재중국 대한 태권도 협회 전무이사 겸 중국 태권도 대표팀 기술코치인 박종한 사범을 제1호 IMAO 중국 태권도 조직 위원장으로 발령했다.
IMAO는 오는 10월 금산 세계인삼축제(10.3-13)와 연계하여 제4회 국제무예 올림 피아드(The 4th Geumsan International Martial Arts Olympiad)를 주관한다. IMAO는 지난해 10월 13~15일까지 금산에서 예술 문화 축제로 금산 인삼과 무예가 하나가 된 올림 피아드 축제에 세계 60개국 2669명(한국 및 각국 회의 대표 포함)이 참가했다.
박종한 위원장은 고등학교 때 동남아 순회경기 한국 대표로 선발되었던 것을 시작으로 대표 선수 생활을 했다. 지난 98년 방콕 아시안게임을 앞두고 한중 올림픽 위원회의 교류 일환 사업 일환으로 세계연맹과 국기원의 공동 추천으로 중국 국가대표 팀의 기술감독을 맡았다.
전 재중국 대한테 권도 협회 전무이사, 중국 태권도 대표팀 기술코치 등 태권도 발전에 헌신해 왔다. 대한민국 해병대에서 태권도를 보급했으며 해군(해병대) 대위로 예편했다. 태권도 전문기자를 지냈으며 중국어와 영어에 능통하다.
박 위원장은 “작지만 강한 나라 코리아, 그 명성답게 한국은 태권도 종주국으로 세계를 대표하고 있다. IMAO와 함께 중국에 태권도를 알리는 것은 물론 한국을 알리고 관광 자원화하는데 일조하겠다"라고 말했다.
현재까지 중국에서 양성한 제자만도 2000여명이 넘는다는 박종한 위원장은 “중국 각 지역에 대표 도장을 세워 누구나 태권도를 접할 수 있는 네트워크를 만드는 것”이 소망이라며“ IMAO와 함께 종합적인 태권도 패러다임을 형성할 수 있는 커뮤니티를 만들고 싶다"라고 전했다.
오노균 총재는 “박 위원장은 1998년부터 개최했던 충청대 세계 태권도문화축제에 각국에 파견된 한인 사범들과 함께 참가하여 축제를 성공적으로 이끈 해외 사범 유공자”라고 말하고 “ 그 고마움을 잊어 본 적이 없다. 앞으로 해외에서 존경받은 사범님들을 조직 위원장으로 추대, 매년 10월 제자들과 함께 초청하여 공로를 치하하고 함께 하는 자리를 마련하겠다"라고 말했다.
Park Jong-han, former Executive Director of the Korea Taekwondo Association, appointed as the first IMAO Chinese Taekwondo Organizing Committee Chairman
The International Martial Arts Olympiad (IMAO) today announced the appointment of Sifu Park Jong-han, former Executive Director of the Korea Taekwondo Association and Technical Coach of the Chinese National Taekwondo Team, as the first IMAO Chinese Taekwondo Organizing Committee member.
The IMAO will organize the 4th Geumsan International Martial Arts Olympiad in October in conjunction with the Geumsan World Ginseng Festival (Oct. 3-13). IMAO hosted the Olympiad from October 13-15 last year in Geumsan as an arts and culture festival, bringing together Geumsan ginseng and martial arts, with 2,669 participants from 60 countries around the world (including representatives from Korea and national conferences).
Park's athletic career began in high school when he was selected to represent Korea in the Southeast Asian Tour. In the lead-up to the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, he served as the technical director of the Chinese national team as part of an exchange program between the World Federation and the Korean Olympic Committee.
He has dedicated his career to the development of taekwondo, including serving as executive director of the China Taekwondo Association and technical coach of the Chinese national team. He promoted taekwondo in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps and was commissioned as a captain in the Navy (Marine Corps). He has worked as a journalist specializing in taekwondo and is fluent in Chinese and English.
"Korea is a small but mighty country, and true to its reputation, Korea is the world's leading taekwondo state. Together with IMAO, we will not only promote taekwondo in China, but also help to promote Korea as a tourism resource," said Park.
Mr. Park, who has trained more than 2,000 students in China to date, said he hopes to "create a network where everyone can access taekwondo by establishing representative dojos in each region of China." "Together with IMAO, I want to create a community that can form a comprehensive taekwondo paradigm," he said.
"Mr. Park participated in the Chungcheong National University World Taekwondo Culture Festival since 1998 with Korean masters from various countries and made the festival a success," said Ono Kyun, "and I have never forgotten his gratitude. In the future, we will appoint respected overseas masters as organizers and invite them together with their students every October to celebrate their contributions."
