겐트대 연구인력 파견, 그린하우스 조성공법 공유 등 논의
증평군 스마트팜의 성공적인 조성을 위해 벨기에를 방문 중인 이재영 군수 일행이 20일 겐트대학교(총장 릭 반 드 발레)를 방문했다.
이번 벨기에 방문은 겐트대학교의 초청으로 이뤄졌다.
이날 군은 겐트대의 농업 전문 지식과 경험을 증평 스마트팜 조성에 접목시키기 위한 ‘스마트팜 분야 실행’업무협약을 체결했다.
주요 내용은 △작물 재배 교육 및 연구를 위한 인력파견 △스마트팜 시설 설계 자문 △운영 및 관리 노하우 전수 △스마트팜 기술 이전 등이다.
이번 협약은 지난 6월 체결한 스마트팜 기반 조성 및 연구 협력을 구체화하고 실질적인 실행방안을 마련하기 위해 추진됐다.
이어 진행된 실무회의와 네트워킹 다자회의에서는 겐트대의 연구 인력파견, 그린하우스 조성공법 공유 등을 구체적으로 논의하고 증평의 농업여건에 맞는 기술개발 연구를 추진하기로 협의했다.
또한 이 군수는 겐트대 학생과 교직원을 대상으로 ‘국제위기와 지방정부의 극복방안’이라는 주제로 특강을 진행했다.
특강에서 이 군수는 기후변화와 식량안보 문제 등 다중위기의 상황에서 안정적인 먹거리생산을 위한 스마트팜에 대한 관심과 주목을 필연적이라며 증평과 겐트대의 협력을 강조했다.
아울러, 증평의 지리적 강점과 우수한 관광자원을 소개하며 군 홍보도 빠뜨리지 않았다.
이재영 군수는 “이번 방문으로 겐트대학교의 전문적인 스마트팜 지식과 경험 등을 도입해 미래지향적인 농업으로의 전환을 위한 실질적 방안을 마련해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 겐트대학교는 세계 수준의 생명공학과 농업 관련 기술을 보유하고 있는 대학으로 지난 6월부터 증평군과 스마트팜 조성을 위한 협력관계를 유지하고 있다.

The main contents include dispatching personnel for crop cultivation training and research, advising on smart farm facility design, transferring operation and management know-how, and transferring smart farm technology.
The agreement was signed in June to materialize the smart farm base creation and research cooperation and to prepare practical implementation plans.
At the subsequent working meeting and networking multilateral meeting, they specifically discussed dispatching research personnel from Ghent University and sharing greenhouse construction methods, and agreed to promote research on technology development that fits the agricultural conditions of Jeungpyeong.
In addition, Lee delivered a special lecture to Ghent University students and staff on the topic of 'International Crisis and Local Governments'.
In the lecture, Lee emphasized the cooperation between Jeungpyeong and Ghent University, saying that it is inevitable to pay attention to smart farms for stable food production in the context of multiple crises such as climate change and food security issues.
He also introduced the geographical strengths and excellent tourism resources of Jeungpyeong.
"Through this visit, we will introduce Ghent University's specialized smart farm knowledge and experience to prepare practical measures for the transition to future-oriented agriculture," said Lee Jae-young.
Meanwhile, Ghent University, a university with world-class biotechnology and agriculture-related technologies, has been cooperating with Jeungpyeong County to build a smart farm since June.
