(사)세계탈문화예술연맹은 최근 보츠와나 카사네에서 열린 제18차 유네스코 무형문화유산보호협약 정부간위원회에서 유네스코가 인정하는 국제비정부기구(NGO)로 재승인 됐다고 밝혔다.
정부간위원회는 자문기구의 사업 내용을 검토해 4년마다 재인가 여부를 결정하고 있으며, 이번 회의에서 전 세계 자문기구 91곳 가운데 80곳이 재승인 되었다.
이 중 한국에 소재한 NGO기구는 세계탈문화술연맹, 한국문화재단, 세계무술연맹, 무형문화연구원 총 4개가 있으며, 특히 세계탈문화예술연맹은 2014년 비정부기구(NGO)로 인가받은 뒤 무형유산 보호 전승을 위한 세계총회, 탈 관련 아카이브사업, 세계탈 전시 등 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다.
이번 재인가를 통해 (사)세계탈문화예술연맹은 국제적 위상을 더욱 공고히 할 수 있게 되었으며, 향후 지속적인 무형유산 NGO 활동을 통해 각국 회원 및 해당 정부와 함께 무형문화유산적 가치와 인지도를 높여 갈 계획이다.
(사)세계탈문화예술연맹 관계자는 “앞으로 지역의 무형유산 관련 인지도를 높이고, 향후 회원단체들과 함께 국제사회에서 모범적인 국제비정부기구로 나아가기 위해 다양한 활동을 펼쳐 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
The World Alliance for Transcultural Arts recently announced that it has been reapproved as a UNESCO-recognized international non-governmental organization (NGO) at the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, held in Kasane, Botswana.
The Intergovernmental Committee reviews the work of consultative bodies and decides whether to reauthorize them every four years, and at this meeting, 80 out of 91 consultative bodies around the world were reauthorized.
Among them, there are four NGO organizations based in Korea: the World Federation of Esoteric Arts, the Korea Cultural Foundation, the World Martial Arts Federation, and the Intangible Culture Research Institute. In particular, the World Federation of Esoteric Arts was recognized as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in 2014 and has been conducting various activities such as the World Congress for the Protection and Transmission of Intangible Heritage, the esoteric-related archive project, and the World Esoteric Exhibition.
With this reauthorization, the World Federation for the Arts will be able to further consolidate its international status, and will continue to raise the value and awareness of intangible cultural heritage with its members and their governments through its ongoing activities as an ICH NGO.
