다양한 돌봄 인력 역량강화 프로그램 추진… 어르신들에게 재능기부
논산시(시장 백성현)가 ‘어르신맞춤돌봄서비스’ 현장 일선에 있는 생활지원사들의 역량을 강화해 복지행정의 질을 향상하고자 다각적인 교육 및 학습 프로그램을 펼치고 있다.
시는 체계적으로 생활지원사를 육성하는 것은 물론 배양된 지원 역량을 어르신 돌봄서비스에 직접적으로 연계ㆍ활용하기 위해 지난 9월부터 돌봄인력 역량강화 교육을 추진해왔다.
이의 일환으로 생활지원사들은 지난주 중 소가구만들기 체험 시간을 갖고 천연원목을 이용해 목공예품을 제작했으며, 이를 지난 18일 돌봄서비스 대상 어르신들에게 직접 선물해드렸다.
생활지원사의 손을 거친 특별 선물은 이뿐만이 아니다. 지난 10월에는 원예치료(플라워 테라피) 프로그램에 함께해 꽃을 통한 스트레스 완화 노력 및 어르신 생활교육법을 터득했으며, 직접 제작한 꽃다발을 어르신 댁에 가져다드리며 ‘정다운 꽃향기’를 나눴다.
또한 11월 중 이뤄진 향기 치유(아로마 테라피) 기반의 천연화장품 만들기ㆍ마사지 교육에 참여해 익힌 노하우를 어르신들에게 전하며 정서건강 증진에 이바지하기도 했다. 이외에도 생활지원사들은 인권 교육과 같은 기본 소양교육에 임하며 어르신 돌봄의 진정한 전문가로서 자격을 갖추는 중이다.
생활지원사 역량 교육을 담당하고 있는 유경희 사회복지사는 “교육 내내 생활지원사들의 만족도가 매우 높았고, 지원사들의 스트레스 해소 및 자존감 향상까지 도모할 수 있었다”며 “지원사들이 갖춘 다양한 능력들이 어르신 돌봄서비스 내실화에도 이어질 수 있으니 일거양득이라 할 수 있다”고 말했다.
한편, 논산시는 2024년에도 생활지원사의 수요를 살피고 타 지자체 수범사례들을 연구하여 돌봄인력 역량강화 교육망을 한층 고도화한다는 방침이다.
Nonsan City (Mayor Baek Seong-hyun) is conducting a multifaceted education and learning program to improve the quality of welfare administration by strengthening the capabilities of life support workers on the front lines of the 'Elderly Care Service'.
The city has been promoting capacity-building training for care workers since last September in order to not only systematically foster life support workers, but also to directly link and utilize the cultivated support capabilities to care services for the elderly.
As part of this, the support workers had a small furniture-making experience last week and made wood crafts using natural wood, which they presented directly to the elderly on the 18th.
This is not the only special gift that was made by the life support staff. In October, they participated in a horticultural therapy (flower therapy) program to learn how to relieve stress and educate the elderly through flowers, and they delivered homemade bouquets to the elderly to share the "soothing scent of flowers" with them.
They also participated in a natural cosmetics making and massage training program based on scent healing (aromatherapy) in November and shared their know-how with the elderly, contributing to their emotional health. In addition, life support workers are being trained in basic skills such as human rights education to qualify as true experts in caring for the elderly.
Yoo Kyung-hee, a social worker in charge of competency training for life support workers, said, "The satisfaction level of the life support workers was very high throughout the training, and we were able to relieve their stress and improve their self-esteem," adding, "It is a win-win situation because the various abilities of the support workers can lead to the internalization of the elderly care service."
Meanwhile, in 2024, Nonsan City plans to further enhance the capacity-building education network for care workers by looking at the demand for life support workers and studying the best practices of other local governments.
