문무대왕의 해양정신과 신라 해양 교류역사를 교육‧전시할 수 있는 거점 공간인 ‘문무대왕 해양역사관’ 건립이 순조롭게 진행되고 있다.
17일 시에 따르면 감포읍 대본초등학교 폐교 부지(대본리 617번지 일원) 9089㎡에 151억 원 예산을 들여 2024년까지 2층 연면적 1793㎡ 규모로 문무대왕 해양역사관을 건립한다.
1층에는 문무대왕 청소년 아카데미와 해양마린스쿨, 체험장, 카페, 사무실 등의 기타 체험시설이 들어서고, 2층에는 문무대왕 자료관, 문무대왕 해양교류관 등의 전시시설이 마련된다.
전시(2층) 주제별로 살펴보면 문무대왕 자료관은 문무대왕과 삼국통일, 문무대왕 역사유적, 해양정신의 계승을, 문무대왕 해양교류관은 신라해양인물, 신라해양 교류문화 등의 콘텐츠로 각각 구성된다.
문무대왕 해양역사관은 기존 단순 전시‧체험 위주의 청소년해양센터, 해양박물관과는 차별화를 뒀다.
역사관 내 청소년해양학교를 운영하면서 울릉도‧독도 영토체험과 문무대왕릉, 이견대, 감은사지 일대 답사는 물론 문무대왕 업적과 유적 홍보‧참가 프로그램 등의 교육적인 요소를 가미했다.
여기에 시는 화랑마을과 연계해 경주만의 특별한 청소년 해양 프로그램도 개발할 예정이다.
앞서 이 사업은 2015년 10월 기본구상 연구용역 완료, 2017년 9월 경북도의회 공유재산관리계획 승인이 가결됐으며, 지난해 5월 착공에 들어갔다.
문무대왕 해양역사관이 완공되면 문무대왕의 수중왕릉을 비롯한 이 일대 문화유적들이 체계적으로 홍보될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
또 보문단지를 중심으로 활성화된 내륙관광에서 양남 주상절리, 문무대왕 해양역사관, 송대말 등대로 이어지는 해양관광 코스 개발로 동경주 지역 경제 활성화에도 큰 기여가 될 것으로 예상하고 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “문무대왕의 해양개척 정신을 계승해 우리의 찬란한 해양역사를 널리 알리겠다”며 “천혜의 자연환경과 역사, 해양레저관광거점 조성사업을 적극 활용해 동남권 대표 해양관광 명소로 만들어 갈 것”이라고 강조했다.
The construction of the 'King Munmu Maritime History Center,' a base space for education and exhibition of King Munmu's maritime spirit and Silla's maritime exchange history, is progressing smoothly.
According to the city on the 17th, the King Munmu Maritime History Center will be built on the 9089㎡ site of the former Daebon Elementary School in Gampo-eup (part of Daebon-ri 617) with a budget of 15.1 billion won by 2024 with a total floor area of 1793㎡.
The first floor will house the King Munmudae Youth Academy and other experience facilities such as the Maritime Marine School, experience centers, cafes, and offices, while the second floor will house exhibition facilities such as the King Munmudae Archives and the King Munmudae Maritime Exchange Center.
The exhibition (2nd floor) is organized by topic, with the King Munmudae Museum focusing on King Munmudae and the reunification of the Three Kingdoms, historical sites of King Munmudae, and the inheritance of the maritime spirit, and the King Munmudae Maritime Exchange Center focusing on Silla maritime figures and Silla maritime exchange culture.
The King Munmudae Maritime History Museum is differentiated from the existing youth maritime centers and maritime museums that focus on simple exhibitions and experiences.
While operating a youth maritime school in the history center, it added educational elements such as experiencing the territories of Ulleungdo and Dokdo, and visiting the tomb of King Munmudae, Yi Gyeon-dae, and Gamunsaji, as well as promoting and participating in programs to promote the achievements and ruins of King Munmudae.
In addition, the city will also develop a special youth marine program unique to Gyeongju in conjunction with Hwarang Village.
Previously, the project completed the basic concept study in October 2015, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly approved the shared property management plan in September 2017, and construction began in May last year.
Once the King Munmudae Maritime History Museum is completed, it is expected that cultural relics in the area, including the underwater royal tomb of King Munmudae, will be systematically promoted.
It is also expected to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy in Donggyeongju by developing a marine tourism course from inland tourism centered on the Bomun Complex to Yangnam Jusangjeri, King Munmudae Maritime History Museum, and Songdaemal Lighthouse.
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, "We will inherit the spirit of King Munmu's maritime development and promote our glorious maritime history." "We will actively utilize our natural environment, history, and marine leisure tourism base to make it a representative maritime tourist attraction in the Southeast," he emphasized.
